Sweet wines

The CAPICUA brand is the name given to our sweet wines, perfect to accompany desserts or to start a meal. The brand name was created to celebrate the birth of the first granddaughters of the Quinta's owners, 'Capicua' twins born on a date that is also a Capicua: 21.02.2012. They are two very different wines: one is a red liqueur, the other a late harvest white. The first was fortified with a magnificent grape brandy from the time when the Oeste region was the main supplier of brandies for Port wine. The second was harvested on Halloween 2016. We believe that perhaps these particularities explain the excellence of the wines.

CAPICUA LICOROSO

Wine produced exclusively with Touriga Nacional grapes from the 2012 harvest. Three days after destemming and crushing, the fermenting must was drained into stainless steel tanks, where fermentation was stopped by the addition of high-quality grape brandy that was approximately 40 years old. It aged for 2 years in the same tank, after which it was bottled. It spent a further 1 year in the bottle before being released for sale in October 2015.

A light ruby red wine with an intense aroma of red fruits. On the palate it is sweet and elegant, with a delicate structure and a long-lasting flavor. It is a magnificent dessert wine, excellent to accompany chocolate and soft cheeses.

CAPICUA LATE HARVEST

Wine produced exclusively with Moscatel Graúdo grapes. The harvest was carried out on October 31st, several weeks after the usual harvest date, which led to dehydration and an increase in sugar concentration. As October 2016 was hot and quite humid, optimal conditions were created for the development of "noble rot" due to the action of the fungus Botrytis cinerea. Pneumatic pressing was carried out, without destemming or crushing. The fermentation of the must lasted 1 week, after which it was suspended to maintain the sugars. The wine was aged in stainless steel vats, and bottling took place in the spring of 2019.

Golden-colored wine with an intense aroma. In the mouth it is slightly sweet, elegant and with a delicate structure. An aperitif or dessert wine, it is excellent to accompany dried fruits.
